I simply enjoy the beauty of the night sky and value the feeling of connection that can arise from looking at the universe, and the peacefulness of the night. Even with no equipment at all, I can learn the constellations, see meteors and eclipses, and observe the motions of the sun, moon, and planets that mystified our ancestors for so many thousands of years.

I am not the only person in this world who likes astronomy. There are thousands of us out there. Some of us just like to look up to the night sky and wonder what makes it all go. The sky is there for everyone, and can be studied for free. An appreciation of the night sky and its cosmic contents can go as deep as you like, ranging from the romance and history of the constellations to actual scientific study.
